Quick trip to Cowes for breakfast

I was in Chichester for a few days a month or so ago and arranged to meet up with a Jonny and Doc, who I met whilst racing the Caribbean 600 on Scarlett Oyster in Antiqua in 2025. Jonny had previously told me that he and Simon (Doc) often motor across from Hamble point to Cowes for breakfast on his 7mtr rib. Regretfully, Doc was not about, so I met Jonny and we sped across mooring up in Cowes Yacht Haven marina, then a 5 minite walk into Cowes High Street where we had a good old fashioned English breakfast, then a bit of shopping in the many sailing shops there.

Jonny previously offered me the use of his boat whenever I want. I hope to take him up on his generosity by spending a weekend exploring the Beaulieu river.

I am not generally a fan of the Isle of White, but it was a great trip, a brilliant experience and a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning. And as always Jonny is good company. Hopefully we will do it again when Docs about.

When we got back to Hamble Point I took the opportunity to say hello to Ollie at Elvstrom Sails and to ssay hello to Pauline and Jonathan at Transworld Yachts (TWR). TWR are the UK broker for Hallberg Rassy and where I brought Luce Di Mare. I ended up looking around a Hallberg Rassy 44, which was impressive, but I’m really happy with Luce and felt as though I betrayed her by looking at another boat. Funny how you get attached to boats.
